A dropped connection no longer loses an answer
If the Wi-Fi drops while your child is answering, the answer is saved on the device and sent when the connection comes back. Nothing is counted twice.
Home Wi-Fi drops. Tablets lose signal in the next room. Until today, pressing "Check my answer" at the wrong moment showed the browser's error page, and the answer was gone.
Now the answer is saved on the device first. If there is no connection, your child sees a short note: "You are offline. Your answer is saved on this device. It will send when you are back online." The button stays greyed out so they don't press it again and again. We try again every 10 seconds, and straight away when the device reconnects. Then the worked solution appears as usual. Reloading the page, or closing the tab and opening it again, keeps the saved answer too.
Nothing is counted twice
Each answer carries a one-time code. If the same answer arrives twice, for example because the first try did get through but the reply was lost, we keep the first copy and ignore the second. The session doesn't move on twice, so no question is skipped.
While testing this we also found and fixed a related problem in the pilot study's check-up. There, a repeated answer could skip the next check-up question. It now behaves the same way as normal practice.
What still needs a connection
The next question. We pick each one fresh from your child's latest answers, so the "Next question" button shows the same offline note and carries on once the Wi-Fi is back.
